Confirm the exact test—not just a package name
Ask whether the requested test name, method and specimen match the clinician's request. Packages may include different markers even when their marketing names sound similar.
If a test is unavailable, do not substitute another without clinical advice. Ask for a written list of included markers and the total current charge before paying.
Ask how the sample and result travel
Find out where collection happens, who handles the sample, whether special timing or transport applies, and how your identity is checked. For a home visit, confirm if that specimen can be collected safely outside a laboratory.
Ask how the report is delivered, who can access it and how you can request help if there is a delay or an unclear finding. Avoid sending sensitive results to a number you have not verified.
Plan the follow-up
A laboratory can report measurements, but a result may need interpretation in your clinical context. Know which clinician or service will review it, especially if symptoms persist or a finding is outside the stated range.
Compare providers on clarity of process and aftercare, not only a headline price or promised turnaround.
